Do join us for the second test which starts on Saturday.
Daryl Tuffey has been ruled out for almost 6 weeks after suffering a broken finger.
Clarke: Any hundred is special. I thought North played fantastically as well. The support I have from home and my team mates was wonderful and I appreciate what they have done. A great test win and looking forward to Hamilton. I thought our bowlers did a wonderful job, to be able to get 20 wickets is a great job.
Ponting: Tough work for the bowlers in the conditions. Its been a good one for us. It (the follow-on) had more to do with yesterday's wind. When we thought we might lose a bit of time we sent them in. They are (the bowlers) all really exhausted. Hauritz did a great job, bowling 49 overs into the breeze. When asked if he's played in worse conditions: Never, I don't think I will again. They (the bowlers) stuck to their job pretty well. Its great to see both (Clarke and North) of those guys get the rewards they deserve. All our batters looked good in this game. Looking forward to Hamilton.
Vettori: I suppose we are disappointed with our first innings performance, To turn things around in the 2nd innings was pleasing, but we still have a long way to go. The partnership between Clarke and North put us away. He(McCullum) played exceptionally well, more restrained than usual but he tried to play his natural game as well. Very proud of him, hopefully he can continue in the same way. Daryl's been in exceptional form, once we lost Brendon it put pressure on us. We needed 150-200 to put pressure. We need to be more penetrative with ball and put on a more substantial total in the next test.
Michael Clarke is the Man of the Match for his 168 runs of 253 balls with the help of 22 Four and 2 Sixes.
Harris picked up the vital wicket of McCullum this morning and the rest of the tail folded meekly. Hughes then blasted a whirlwind fifty as Australia romped home by 10 wickets.
It was a comprehensive win by Australia. Clarke and North scored big centuries and ensured Australia posted a huge total. Bollinger picked up a fifer as NZ were skittled out for 157. The hosts put up more of a fight in the 2nd innings as McIntosh, Vettori and McCullum in particular played terrificly.
Australia lead the 2-match series 1-0
